Norristown Church of God is a Spirit-filled, evangelical congregation in the Norristown suburbs giving the world hope in Christ through biblical teaching, Christ-centered worship and people-oriented ministry.

Our Vision: To win souls for Christ through the ministry of reconciliation, and the assignment of evangelism and the call for discipleship.

Our Mission:To fulfill the commission of Christ: “Go…and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20). Our ministry is true to the timeless message of the gospel in a ministry style, which is relevant to the diverse make-up of the people we serve (Matthew 13:52; Mark 2:20). Our ministry is guided by these fundamental principles:

1. Reconciliation: II Corinthians 5:18 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2. Evangelism: Witnessing... fulfilling the Great Commission... What does it all mean? Simply put, Christian evangelism is when we share our faith with others. We here at Norristown Church Of God want to lead people into a personal relationship with Christ: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10).

3. Discipleship: This is summed up in the Great Commission. After the resurrection and before He ascended into heaven, Jesus appeared one last time to His disciples (they were eleven in number at that time, since Judas Iscariot had betrayed Jesus and hanged himself). This is the moment that He delivered the famous calling for disciples known as The Great Commission:

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18b-20)

"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." II Timothy 2:2

Christian discipleship begins when you make an active choice to get to know Jesus better. By God's grace, it is then accomplished in several ways:
• You can study His Word daily and spend time alone with Him in prayer.
• You can become a member of a Bible-teaching church fellowship.
• You can seek out the companionship of other Christians who are growing with Christ.
• You can participate in ministry and meet the needs of other believers.
• You can share what you're learning about Christ with others, just like Andrew, James, John, Luke, Matthew, Peter, Paul and all the original disciples did.
Like those first twelve, you too can be a believer who becomes a follower and messenger!

The church gives the world hope in Christ for the past, present and future:
Hope for the past through proclaiming the forgiveness of sins in Christ.
Hope for the present through discovering a life of spiritual purpose in Christ.
Hope for the future through receiving God’s promise of eternal life in Christ.
